The Healing Modalities

Therapy Options

Here’s a detailed look at the therapies, modalities and tools I integrate into your holistic, highly personalized healing journey. Each modality is designed to work on different layers of the self—mind, body, and spirit—bringing you into a more balanced, peaceful, and authentic version of yourself.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

What it is: Developed in the 1980s and initially researched with war veterans, EMDR is a psychotherapy technique that uses rhythmic, left-right (bilateral) stimulation to help you process and heal from trauma or distressing life events.

How it works: The process involves focusing on a traumatic memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation (typically through eye movements or tapping). This stimulation helps “reprocess” the memory, reducing its emotional charge and transforming your response to the event. Over time, exposure to the memory becomes less distressing, allowing you to release fear, pain, and the emotional impact associated with it.

Why it’s effective: EMDR helps “unstick” the emotional intensity of trauma and allows your brain to rewire, process, and store those memories in a healthier way, which can significantly reduce symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression.

Reiki

What it is: Reiki is an energy healing practice rooted in Eastern traditions that focuses on the flow of vital energy (often referred to as “Chi” or “Qi”) within the body.
How it works: A Reiki practitioner uses gentle touch or places their hands just above your body to channel this energy, helping to clear blockages, restore balance, and promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

Why it’s effective: Reiki has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, pain, and depression by facilitating a deep relaxation response in the body. Many people find it helps release emotional blockages, supports clarity, and fosters a greater sense of peace and emotional well-being.

Breathwork

What it is: Breathwork is a therapeutic technique that uses controlled breathing patterns to influence the body’s nervous system, helping to regulate stress and promote overall well-being.

How it works: Through deep, diaphragmatic breathing, breathwork engages the parasympathetic nervous system, putting the brakes on the “fight or flight” (sympathetic) response. This shift promotes relaxation and stress relief throughout the body.

Why it’s effective: Regular breathwork practice reduces the body’s stress response, lowers blood pressure, and improves emotional resilience. Chronic stress is a primary contributor to illness, and breathwork addresses the root cause of this by resetting the body’s stress response, helping to alleviate the accumulated stress in your physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies.

Somatic Therapy

What it is: Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that focuses on the connection between the mind and the body. It recognizes that trauma is often stored in the body and can manifest as physical tension, pain, or dis-ease.

How it works: In somatic therapy, we use body awareness, gentle movement, and physical touch to help you release trauma stored in the body. The process works by tuning into physical sensations and emotions, guiding you through breathwork and movement to process and release trauma.

Why it’s effective: Somatic therapy helps you reconnect to your body in a safe and grounded way, facilitating emotional release and promoting healing from the inside out. It can be especially effective for those who have experienced complex trauma or dissociation, as it helps to bring the body back into balance.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

What it is: IFS is a therapeutic model that views the mind as being made up of different “parts,” each with its own perspective, memories, and roles. These parts can include wounded inner children, protective aspects, and other fragmented aspects of the self.

How it works: Through IFS, we explore the different parts of your psyche to uncover the beliefs, emotions, and experiences that drive your behavior. Healing happens when we work with these parts to bring them into harmony, helping you to integrate and heal internal conflict.

Why it’s effective: IFS provides deep insights into the internal systems that govern your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By healing inner fragmentation, IFS helps you cultivate self-compassion, inner peace, and emotional well-being.

Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAP)

What it is: Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAP) is an emerging therapeutic treatment that uses low-dose ketamine to facilitate profound psychological healing. The treatment is conducted in a safe and controlled setting, where ketamine is used as a tool to access deep emotional states and alter the way you process trauma, depression, and anxiety.

How it works: During KAP sessions, ketamine is administered under the supervision of trained and certified mental health staff. The substance creates a dissociative state that allows you to access different levels of consciousness, facilitating the release of emotional blockages, reprocessing traumatic memories, and shifting limiting beliefs.

Why it’s effective: Ketamine has been shown to provide rapid relief from depression, PTSD, and anxiety by creating new neural pathways and shifting entrenched emotional patterns. KAP offers a powerful tool for clients seeking deep healing and transformative breakthroughs in their mental health.

Meditation

What it is: Meditation is a mindfulness practice that encourages deep focus and awareness, helping you become more present in the moment and connect with your consciousness.

How it works: Through guided meditation practices, you’ll learn to focus on your breath, bodily sensations, or a particular thought or mantra, helping to calm the mind and reduce the noise of daily life and ego.

Why it’s effective: Meditation has been shown to reduce anxiety, depression, and stress, promoting a calm, centered, and balanced state of mind. By fostering mindfulness, meditation helps you gain better control over your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, cultivating a sense of clarity and peace through self-awareness.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

What it is: Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) helps reset emotional responses,
improve self-regulation, and restore a sense of calm. An intensive NLP-based session
(often 4–8 hours) uses communication and behavior-change techniques to identify the root causes of emotional patterns, limiting beliefs, or trauma responses. Through this process, we release the emotional charge from those experiences and help you build new, empowering beliefs and behaviors.

How it works: Using NLP tools to reframe traumatic memories and interrupt trauma
responses, I guide you through your personal history to uncover unconscious emotional blocks—often linked to emotions such as anger, sadness, fear, hurt, or guilt. Together, we reframe and “recode” those emotions into healthier patterns of thought and response.

Why it’s effective: These techniques can help you develop new internal narratives, regulate emotions, and feel more resourceful and empowered. While not a substitute for clinical treatment, NLP-based techniques can complement trauma recovery and support lasting inner healing.

When integrated with evidence-based trauma therapies such as EMDR, IFS, somatic therapy, Reiki, breathwork, and meditation, NLP can accelerate healing and support profound transformation.

Mental and Emotional Release® (MER)

What it is: PTSD often involves intrusive, emotionally charged memories, physiological hyperarousal, avoidance, and negative self-beliefs (“I’m not safe,” “It was my fault,” etc.). MER is a structured process designed to release stored negative emotions associated with past events—without the need to relive them.

How it works: You’ll be guided to visualize your timeline of past and future experiences, “float” above memories to observe them from a safe, detached perspective, and extract the learning from each event while releasing its emotional charge. We then install new perspectives that support healing, empowerment, and forward growth.

Why it’s effective: By letting go of stored negative emotions such as anger, sadness, guilt, and fear—without re-traumatization—we work with the unconscious mind to create calm, emotional balance, and a renewed sense of control and well-being.
